Throughout this quarter I have learned many valuable skills that I want to implement into my classroom. Some of the ideas I am most excited about are making a class blog, youtube channel, and making sure to make use of the smart board if I have one. There were also some assignments that I think many kids would have fun doing in the classroom. I think that many of these that if assisted by a teacher or parent then many students in the Special Education setting would love to experience as well. Something that was difficult for me but some students would enjoy would be the hour of coding. I think that for many of students this could be an eye opening assignment for them. Then because of this assignment it could help them find a career or hobby that they are interested in. I think that I could do this in a Special Education setting I would just have to make sure that the websites they are accessing are appropriate for them. Another assignment that I liked working on was where I had to find a technology that can be used in the classroom. While looking for one I found Pear Deck which I know I will be adding to my slides if I am in a one to one school. This way students are more engaged with content and hopefully will soak up more information.
Some of the assignments that I think could be fun to integrate into the classroom and have students add to would be a podcast, an ebook, interactive posters, and a class movie. I think that a podcast would be a great way to have students work on improving their ability to work in pairs as well as interpersonal relationships where they would have to interview different people about topics that are relevant in the school setting. With this though I would make sure that only parents/guardians and students be able to access the podcast (as well as students videos, movies, etc.) When doing an ebook I think that it could be a fun getting to know you project for the beginning of the year. Then students can post it on the class blog so that the class can access it and learn more about each other. Interactive posters will make presenting in class more fun and interactive. Something that could be done at the end of the year and would be fun, is to make a class movie. Where we as a class would pick a topic and then assign different parts and make different groups so that they have to work together to write a script and record. Then each group would help me in editing their section before being put together and shared on our class website. Activities like these could be used to help improve writing skills, working with others, and public speaking skills in a fun way that many students will enjoy doing. I'm very excited to see what I will be able to do with my future students in helping them grow into smart, kind, and creative people.
