invisible disabilities podcast
Podcast
In this podcast I interviewed my mom, Teresa Walkley, about what invisible disabilities she has and what it's like for her to live a "normal life". We talk about being judged based on appearance and how her life had to change once she was diagnosed with these disabilities. She talks about the strength and perseverance that she had had to have for the last four years in not letting her disabilities define who she is. My mom is a strong and amazing person, and I hope that what she has to say will resonate with you and allow you to not make assumptions about people when you do not know the whole story. Hope you enjoy!
Reflection
After doing this project I thought about how I would use this in a classroom setting. I do think that this could be AT for students who are more auditory learners. How I would use this is maybe have a class podcast where each week a partner group signs up for a different topic that they want to talk about (i.e. recess, hobbies, assignments, curriculum, etc.) This way students are able to get out of their comfort zone and collaborate with others to produce something interesting and fun. This assignment would also help students in developing public speaking skills that are necessary for all students to have as they grow up and start working with the public. This would also be a great way to foster a well rounded sense of community
